How does the process work?
It is really simple. If you have textbooks from your last semester or quarter that you do not want or need anymore you can upload your textbooks onto the website and trade them with other student members.
How do I earn Exchange credits?
For each book you put on the website we will give you one Exchange. For each quarter/semester you can put up to 6 books online at a time.
How do the Exchange credits work?
The textbooks have no monetary value on our site. For every one (1) textbook you add to our database you will receive one (1) Exchange credit to be used in obtaining a textbook you need.
For example, if Suzie put 1 textbook online, that gives her one exchange. If she has Accounting II the next quarter/semester she can search for that textbook, click grab it, which will deduct one (1) credit from her account, then she just has to wait for receipt and shipping confirmation from the sending member.
How do I request a textbook?
Simply log into your account page, click Bookstore, select Search, then type in the ISBN or Keyword and a list of available books will appear. Once you find the book you need, click on view under the description, and if want the textbook just click on Grab It. You will receive e-mail notification regarding your request as well as notification from the sending member regarding his delivery method.
What if I request a textbook and the member doesn't respond?
Each member must respond to a textbook request within 36 hours. If they fail to do so, the request will be cancelled and you can either find another member with the same textbook, or you can try to request it from the same member again. We understand that they’ll be times where members are busy at school, with their jobs, or on vacation. Therefore, some exceptions have to be made regarding all requests. This is why each member only has 36 hours to respond so you’re not left waiting for a response to your request.
What if I request a textbook and the member responds but I never receive the book?
It is each member's responsibility to reply and ship his/her requested textbooks daily. If you do not receive your textbook within six (6) business days do not hesitate to notify BookExchangeOnline.com from our Contact page.
How does shipping work?
An e-mail notification is sent each time a textbook is requested. Notification is sent to confirm receipt by the sending member and when the textbook has been shipped. Unfortunately each member is responsible for shipping fees. We hope to one day eliminate this fee for our members, however, in the mean time we suggest using the United States Postal Service (USPS) Media Mail or Priority Flat Rate when mailing out your textbooks.
We have found that this is the cheapest and most reliable delivery method. Unfortunately YES. It is the responsibility of the sender to pay for shipping. We highly recommend meeting the person face-to-face or contact through e-mail or our forum to set up a meeting time and place. From the research our staff has done, using the United States Postal Service (USPS) Media Mail or Priority Flat Rate is the cheapest and the most reliable way to ship your textbook.
When I receive my book what do I do?
IMPORTANT: Each requesting member must confirm receipt of the textbook by logging onto the site and clicking on Requested by Me in the My Books section. Next you will need to view the textbook received and select a feedback rating below the description for the sending member below.
How do I send a textbook?
When a member's textbook has been requested you will receive an e-mail notification from BookExchangeOnline.com confirming a request has been made. You will then log onto your member account page and click on the My Books section. Under the section you must click on Requested by Others. This section will list all the books that have been requested. Click on Ship and this will list the requesting members contact information and physical address for mailing. Once the shipment has been confirmed by the sending member the receiving member will be sent delivery confirmation.

What if you don't have the textbook I need?
Unfortunately, at this time we cannot guarantee every textbook you need. However, think about it this way, if you get one of your books on this site you will have already paid for your membership multiple times over. Remember we are a new company with limited books at the start. We need devoted students to register and put their textbooks online to help build up our online library database of textbooks.
What if someone adds a book that is not a textbook?
When you register you must agree to our Terms and Service, which stat a non-textbook added to the BookExchangeOnline.com database will be removed immediately and the credit deducted from the members account. Remember, we have the right to temporarily suspend all browsing and trading on the site before each quarter/semester. This allows us to modify textbook pictures and descriptions for the next trading period. Any member who enters a non-textbook will be in breach of our Terms and Service and will be suspended and/or banned from the website upon investigation by the Book Exchange Online customer service team.
I am a 1st quarter/semester freshman; can I join and exchange textbooks online?
No, you must purchase your 1st quarter textbooks online or unfortunately from a bookstore. The only exception to this issue is if you have access to college textbooks that can be added for Exchange credits. If you need to buy your textbooks we suggest using the links listed below, so you can save some money and avoid the Bookstores. Starting the second quarter you will have books available to exchange and are welcome to join the BookExchangeOnline.com.
Can I become an employee?
Yes, we are hiring salespeople to sale memberships and earn money on commission base pay. We can only hire a certain number of salespeople for each school. We will have postings available online to announce when we are hiring students at your particular school.
Is my personal information safe?
Absolutely, we will never release your information to anybody or any third party website, GUARANTEED.
What is the punishment for bad member feedback?
If a member receives three bad feedbacks we will completely suspend the student's account on the website pending an investigation by the Book Exchange Online employees. No refund will be given if we determine that the member has neglected his/her account and requests. Exceptions will be made if the Postal Service is at fault for late deliveries.
